7 days of fun: Martina McBride, Sweeney Todd and a little gospel

World music: Femi Kuti

Friday: The eldest son of the late Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, 54-year-old Femi Kuti began his musical career playing saxophone in his father’s band Egypt 80. In 1986, he started his own group, Positive Force, and released his self-titled debut in 1995. He has continued to record — earning four Grammy nominations — and find new audiences thanks to tours with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction. Kuti recorded his most recent album, “No Place for My Dream,” in Paris and added Latin and Caribbean flourishes to his Afrobeat sound. 8 p.m.; Cedar Cultural Center, 416 Cedar Ave. S., Mpls.; $55-$50; 612-338-2674 or thecedar.org.
